As part of their Erasmus+ internship, students from the Police Academy in Szczytno visited the Kriminalpolizeiinpektion in Bamberg (Germany), where they had the opportunity to learn about the functioning of the Bavarian State Police and the German Federal Police. The visit enabled a detailed analysis of the training system, service organization, and operational practices applied by German law enforcement agencies.
The internship program included, among other activities, participation in the work of the wanted persons division, observation of suspect arrests, and interrogations conducted with the participation of a prosecutor and an interpreter. Valuable experiences also included taking part in firearms and intervention techniques training, observing an autopsy of a person who died due to drug abuse, as well as visiting the cybercrime division, where modern tools for digital data analysis were presented.
The students from Szczytno also learned about the functioning of the Bamberg prison and the work of the forensic laboratory, where methods of person identification and trace analysis were demonstrated. A special highlight of the program was the visit to the Federal Police Training Centre and to the Riot Police Units in Nuremberg, where the activities of the Rapid Response Groups were discussed.
The stay in Bamberg was not only an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences but also to explore the local culture, UNESCO-listed architecture, and Franconian traditions.
The internship proved to be an extremely valuable professional and educational experience—fostering skills development, knowledge exchange, and the strengthening of international cooperation.
