The Police Academy in Szczytno aims to establish cooperation with as many European police universities that hold the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education as possible. In this context, on 11–13 August 2025, we had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from the Police University College in Tampere (Finland): Ms. Nelli Mäkelä, the university Erasmus+ programme coordinator, and Ms. Johanna Guessous, the head of the Student Services Department at the Finnish institution.
Traditionally, the visit began with a welcome from the Deans of the Faculty of Security and Legal Sciences, Capt. Dr. Łukasz Kacprowicz and 2nd Lt. Dr. Grzegorz Bąk. During the meeting, the guests were provided with key information about the Academy (number of students, fields of study, and place in the structure of police education). The visitors then toured selected facilities of the Police Academy: the Police Analytical and Research Centre, shooting range, sports facilities, and library. This allowed them to familiarize themselves with the infrastructure and teaching resources for specialized courses.
Next, Ms. Nelli Mäkelä and Ms. Johanna Guessous met with representatives of the Institute for Research Coordination and the Publishing and Printing Department. They showed great interest in the research programmes conducted at the Academy.
The final point of the agenda was a meeting with the management of the Faculty’s Institutes. This was an opportunity to consolidate and organize information about both institutions, as well as to establish direct contact with individuals interested in future cooperation with the Police University College in Tampere. Such cooperation will be possible, among other things, through the exchange of Erasmus+ programme participants, which will provide funding for the mobility of lecturers, staff, and students of both institutions.
