The Police Academy in Szczytno is an organisational unit of the Police within the meaning of the act of 6 April 1990 – Police Act. Additionally, under the act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science is an institution of the state services, i.e. a public institution supervised by the minister of internal affairs, having legal entity.

The mission of the Academy is to uncover and reveal the truth about social sciences, in the disciplines of security and legal sciences which in particular have a reference to security and public order through carrying out research and training academic staff members, PhD students, students, law enforcement agents as well as course participants.
