In July 2025, the Police Academy in Szczytno hosted a specialized training on computer forensics for representatives of law enforcement agencies from Ukraine. The coordinator responsible for hosting the foreign delegation on behalf of the Police Academy in Szczytno was Capt. Dr. Paweł Olber – assistant professor at the Institute of Criminal Service, Faculty of Security and Legal Sciences.

The training focused on securing and analyzing volatile data as well as malware analysis.

A key aspect of the course was to ensure effective handling of electronic evidence in accordance with international regulations — particularly the Council of Europe Convention on cybercrime. The objective of the initiative was to enhance both knowledge and practical skills in acquiring and analyzing volatile data, to develop technical competencies enabling the fast and reliable securing of such electronic evidence and to strengthen the effectiveness of ongoing criminal proceedings.

This event also addresses current challenges in the field of cybersecurity, including the growing threat of malware aimed at disrupting the functioning of critical infrastructure and national security. The project responds to the urgent need for effective incident detection, swift reaction to cyberattacks, and mitigation of their impact in order to reduce potential damage.

The actions undertaken within the framework of this initiative contribute to raising awareness in the field of cybersecurity and underline the importance of appropriate incident response in the digital environment.
