A delegation of the Police Academy in Szczytno, led by Gen. Dr.Agata Malasińska-Nagórny, took part in the international scientific conference “Criminology, Law and The Democratic Ideal,” in a study visit to the FBI Academy in Quantico, and in a meeting with the Police Liaison Officer in the United States.
From 12 to 15 November 2025, Gen. Dr. Agata Malasińska-Nagórny—Rector-Commander of the Police Academy in Szczytno—together with her deputy, Col. Dr. Monika Porwisz, as well as two academic teachers from the Institute of Legal Sciences Prof. Ewa Guzik-Makaruk and Prof. Emil Pływaczewski attended the “Criminology, Law and The Democratic Ideal” conference organised by the American Society of Criminology (ASC). The event attracts nearly 4,000 participants from over 50 countries, and its programme includes up to 1,100 thematic sessions.
The presentation “The main centers of criminological research in Poland – selected aspects of activities” within the sub-panel Cross-National Comparison of Crime and Justice enabled the delegation to present Poland’s scientific achievements on the international stage and engage in discussions on further cooperation. It covered key criminological research centres in Poland, with particular emphasis on the relationship between the American Society of Criminology, the Police Academy in Szczytno, as well as the School of Criminology in Białystok.
A study visit to the FBI Academy in Quantico complemented the theoretical considerations and provided valuable insights into new crime trends and strategies for combating them. Meetings and discussions with the FBI Academy’s representatives offered an opportunity to learn about methods of dealing with suspects and offenders, the latest approaches to supporting and protecting victims of crime, the use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in training and law enforcement work, the FBI recruitment and training system, and possibilities for scientific and research collaboration
During the visit, the delegation also met with the Police Liaison Officer in the United States, Col. Beata Trojanowska - First Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington, D.C. The meeting provided an excellent opportunity for inspiring discussions about Polish-American police cooperation and contemporary crime trends.
