On November 26, 2025, a scientific and practical conference “Actual Problems of Combating Crime” organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan was held in Baku. The event was attended by representatives of law enforcement and public institutions from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Hungary, Moldova, Georgia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and the Kyrgyz Republic. The representatives of the National Assembly, selected bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and employees and PhD students of Baku State University, the Police Academy, and the National Aviation Academy were also present. Poland was represented by Cpt. Łukasz Kacprowicz, PhD, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Security and Legal Sciences at the Police Academy in Szczytno.

he conference addressed the issue of international crime, with particular emphasis placed on its origins, trends, and modern methods of crime prevention and combating. It provided an excellent platform for intensive discussions, learning about legal solutions, and the scope of responsibility of the services responsible for internal security in the participating countries.

During the meeting, the importance of international cooperation and effective exchange of intelligence was emphasized, especially in areas such as counterterrorism, human trafficking, cybercrime, and organized crime. The need to harmonize training standards and develop joint educational and research initiatives that will improve the preparedness of personnel to respond to new forms of threats was also emphasized.

The organizers also planned a study visit to the Police Academy in Baku and a tour of the capital city, which further promoted integration among participants and the exchange of experiences.

The meeting concluded with a declaration to enhance cooperation between countries and academic centres, and an announcement of further expert meetings aimed at developing practical solutions for combating crime effectively. The Police Academy in Szczytno remains open to initiatives that contribute to strengthening security both in Poland and internationally.
